About the role
The Summer Nurse Externship is a 10‑week program (May 17 – July 24, 2027) for nursing students entering their final year. It begins with a two‑week orientation (classroom and clinical) followed by hands‑on experience where the extern performs basic bedside care and selected nursing procedures under the guidance of an assigned Registered Nurse.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic bedside care and selected nursing procedures.
- Partner with a Registered Nurse to learn and demonstrate physical assessment skills.
- Learn and demonstrate routine basic care skills, including bathing, safety, and hygiene activities.
- Receive ongoing supervision and mentorship from the assigned RN throughout the externship.
Requirements
- Nursing student in the final year of an accredited nursing program and completion of at least one clinical rotation, or a Graduate Nurse without Boards required.
