The Nurse Extern is a vital member of the nursing team, gaining hands-on experience by assisting with patient care, supporting nursing tasks, and documenting care activities. This role focuses on providing safe, compassionate care, including helping with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), vital signs, wound care, specimen collection, and patient education. The extern collaborates with the team to ensure a clean, safe environment and participates in learning opportunities to develop nursing skills and confidence.
Responsibilities
- Assist with patient care and nursing tasks
- Help with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
- Monitor and record vital signs
- Assist with wound care and specimen collection
- Provide patient education
- Collaborate with the nursing team to maintain a clean and safe environment
- Participate in learning opportunities to develop nursing skills
Requirements
- Enrollment in an accredited nursing program in good standing
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of start
- Strong communication, teamwork, and patient care skills
