Role Overview The Nurse Extern provides hands-on support within the nursing team, assisting with patient care on a Medical Surgical unit.
Responsibilities
- Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), vital signs, mobility, and hygiene to ensure patient comfort.
- Perform basic nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter care, and specimen collection to gain clinical experience.
- Accurately document care activities and communicate updates to the nursing team for seamless patient care.
- Educate patients and families about care plans, supporting their understanding and recovery.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by following infection control protocols and managing equipment.
- Engage in learning opportunities, collaborate with supervisors, and contribute to care improvements for personal growth.
Qualifications & Skills
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of employment.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
- Currently enrolled in an Associate or Bachelor’s Degree program in nursing.
