Nurse Extern - Labor & Delivery
About the role
Be the heart of compassionate care in a patient care support role. In this vital position, you'll provide essential assistance and comfort to patients, ensuring they receive the best possible experience during their healthcare journey. You will assist in providing basic and intermediate nursing care to an assigned group of patients across various units.
General Nursing Units care for patients from age 15 years to maturity by clinically competent nursing staff. Special Care Areas care for patients age 15 years through adult with high-risk conditions. Maternal Child Units include:
- Labor and Delivery: care for patients with pregnancy-related conditions by clinically competent staff.
- Nursery: care for newborns until discharge by clinically competent staff.
- Pediatric: care for patients from neonate through age 14 by clinically competent staff.
Additional units include:
- GI Lab Unit: cares for toddlers (beginning at 24 months) through adults.
- Behavioral Health and Geropsychiatric Unit: cares for adult patients and families with a holistic approach to emotional problems.
- Emergency Unit: provides care to patients of all ages, including pediatric and high-risk adult care.
- Acute Rehab Unit: provides care to patients of all ages by clinically competent staff.
Able to work at least eight hours per pay period. May work shifts in increments of 4, 8, 10, and 12 hours as assigned. Completes established competencies for the position within the designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an accredited school of nursing, professional nursing (RN) program.
- Entering final clinical practicum rotation in nursing school.
- Successfully completed a basic clinical skills lab (skills checklist may be used to validate experience).
Qualifications
- Active healthcare provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification on hire (ARC or AHA); must obtain AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification obtained within 60 days of hire or transfer to position if working in the ED or Behavioral Health Area.
