Nurse Extern - ER

About the role

Be the heart of compassionate care in a patient care support role. In this vital position, you'll provide essential assistance and comfort to patients, ensuring they receive the best possible experience during their healthcare journey. You will assist in providing basic and intermediate nursing care to an assigned group of patients across various units.

The role requires the ability to work at least eight hours per pay period, with shifts available in increments of 4, 8, 10, and 12 hours as assigned. You will complete established competencies for the position within the designated introductory period and perform other related duties as assigned.

Patient care units

• General Nursing Units: Care for patients from age 15 years to maturity by clinically competent nursing staff.
• Special Care Areas: Care for patients age 15 years through adult with high-risk conditions by clinically competent nursing staff.
• Maternal Child Units:
  • Labor and Delivery: Care for patients with pregnancy-related conditions by staff clinically competent in maternity care.
  • Nursery: Care for newborns until discharge by clinically competent staff.
  • Pediatric: Clinically competent staff provides care to patients from neonate through age 14.
• GI Lab Unit: Cares for toddlers (beginning at 24 months) through adults by clinically competent staff.
• Behavioral Health and Geropsychiatric Unit: Cares for adult patients and families with a holistic approach to emotional problems by clinically competent nursing staff.
• Emergency Unit: Provides care to patients of all ages by clinically competent staff in pediatric and high-risk adult care.
• Acute Rehab Unit: Provides care to patients of all ages by clinically competent staff.

Requirements

• Minimum Education: Must be currently enrolled in an accredited school of nursing, professional nursing (RN) program, and entering your final clinical practicum rotation.
• Minimum Experience: Successfully completed a basic clinical skills lab. A skills checklist may be used to validate experience.
• Required Certifications:
  • Active healthcare provider Basic Life Support (BLS) on hire (ARC or AHA); must obtain AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification required within 60 days of hire or transfer if working in the Emergency Department (ED) or Behavioral Health Area.
