Nurse Extern
About the role
Meadowview Regional Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Extern to join our team. This position offers 12-hour shift work, as needed.
Responsibilities
- Direct patient care under the direction, delegation and supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Documents patient care given.
- Maintains positive professional relationships with patients/families, coworkers, and health care team.
- Aids patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
- Evaluates learning needs of patients and/or families and provides appropriate patient/family education.
- Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an approved school of nursing and a third-year student or higher, with expected graduation within 13 months of hire.
- Must be in good standing with the approved school of nursing.
- Demonstrated clinical competence to safely perform required duties.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - Healthcare Provider certification required.
- Strong foundational clinical knowledge and ability to apply learning in a patient care setting.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with healthcare staff.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Qualifications
- Current CPR certification.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
