About the role

Encompass Health is seeking a nursing career opportunity for a current RN student with nursing fundamentals completed and active Illinois CNA certification. This position offers part-time 24 hours per week, every other weekend schedule.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with daily activities as delegated by the rehabilitation team.
• Communicates patient concerns and changes in condition to rehabilitation nurses or therapists.
• Documents appropriate patient information in their medical records.
• Performs special procedures including the collection of urine, stool, and sputum.
• Reviews treatments/ADLs/hygiene with patients and families.
• Aids patients with feeding and attends Therapeutic Dining Group as indicated.
• Aids patients with body mechanics.
• Maintains a clean and healthy environment for the patient.
• Aids with equipment care.

Qualifications

• BLS (CPR) required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire within this role.
• Part-time or full-time active student status.
• Successful completion of the first term of nursing courses of a professional Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse program.
• Must be currently enrolled and in good academic standing in a professional Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse program.
• Initial term including didactic/skills lab must include fundamentals of nursing or course equivalent.
• Return of one or two (if available) instructor evaluations indicating satisfactory performance of fundamental nursing skills.
• Successfully completes preceptor tool and core competency at 90 days and annually.
• Presents proof of continued enrollment and passing grade in nursing classes each semester until graduation and remains in good academic standing.
• One year experience in inpatient clinical setting preferred.
