Nurse Extern
About the role
The student nurse extern at AMG Specialty Hospital – Northwest Indiana will gain hands-on experience in a clinical setting under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The primary goal is to assist the student nurse in transitioning into a graduate nurse role within the hospital.
Responsibilities
- Care for patients ranging from 18 and up
- Provide direct nursing care as appropriate to training and competency for assigned patients
- Work under the direction of an RN
- Shadow and assist in providing care to patients
- Participate in New Employee Orientation
Requirements
- Must be actively enrolled and in the final year of school
- Must provide written reference from instructor
- Must provide unofficial transcript
- Must be in good academic standing in the school of nursing
- Must provide BLS Certification
- Must work minimally 24 hours per month while shadowing, 12 hours per month following the initial shadow period
Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in an accredited nursing program
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Must adhere to all hospital policies and procedures
