About the role

The clinician is a professional nurse who is an expert in the care of a specified patient population/subspecialty area, specifically pediatric endocrinology and diabetes. The clinician assumes a leadership role and supervisory responsibilities in the development, organization, and implementation of care services for the specified patient population.

Responsibilities

  • Assume leadership role in the development, organization, and implementation of care services for the specified patient population.
  • Provide comprehensive evaluation and diagnostic treatment of a broad range of pediatric endocrine and diabetes disorders.
  • Support the division of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes at Children’s of Alabama with 30 clinical exam rooms, 6 triage bays, 2 stimulation testing rooms, 1 procedure room, and 3 classrooms.
  • Collaborate with 12 Endocrinologists, 6 Fellows, and 10 Nurse Practitioners to provide specialized care.
  • Work closely with multiple areas of support staff including Diabetes Educators, Insulin Pump Educators, Clinic Nurses, Endocrine Nurses, Clinic Aides, and Secretarial staff.

Requirements

  • Previous demonstration of expert clinical management, teaching, research and consultation skills in the subspecialty population.
  • Registered Nurse AL Single State or any of the following equivalent qualifications:
    • Registered Nurse AL NLC Multi State
    • Non-AL NLC Multi State
  • Basic Life Support

Qualifications

  • Associate of Science Nursing in Nursing
  • 2 Years job experience as Staff Level with specialization in the field of Nursing
