About the role

Registered Nurses in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU or 3Neo) at Kentucky Children’s Hospital provide care for critically ill newborns that require close observation and an intermediate level of specialized care. The primary responsibilities for this position consist of providing total, comprehensive, continuous and patient centered care which includes: assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties for Nursing Care Technicians (Nursing Assistant); and adhering to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local regulations.

Requirements

• Active Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license, Temporary Work Permit (TWP), Provisional License or active compact state Registered Nurse (RN) license that is in good standing
• Basic Computer Navigation Skills
• Ability to communicate in a professional and respectful manner with patients and their families, co-workers and physicians
• Strong Organizational, Prioritization, and Delegation Skills
• Highly Motivated, Proactive, and Confident in Advocating for Patients and Their Family Members
• Enjoy Working in a Strong Team Environment and Provides Open, Honest Communication with Fellow Staff and Physicians
• Possess Exceptional Technical Skills and a Proven Ability to Work Independently and in a Team

• No experience required

Benefits

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Pay

Per diem pay is based on the number of shifts agreed to work with the highest pay provided for night shift coverage averaging 3 shifts/week.

Schedule

Must be able to work night shifts (7pm-7:30am) including some holidays and weekend requirements. Minimum work requirement is 96 hours per 6 weeks schedule (average 16 hours/week).
