About the role

The Nursing Resource Pool (NRP) consists of ICU nurses, progressive-care nurses, medical-surgical nurses, Nursing Assistants, and Patient Observation Aides (Patient Sitters). NRP staff are deployed throughout the hospital to assist short‑staffed units, providing care to a wide variety of patients and serving as a valuable learning environment. The unit is located at Troy Hospital, 44201 Dequindre Rd, Troy, which is recognized by US News & World Report as one of the best in the nation for orthopedics and urological services and ranked #3 on Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospitals list.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to patients according to the plan of care, unit routine, and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Safely transport patients via wheelchair or stretcher, handle dispatch services, and document services appropriately.
• Act as an Observer for patients requiring constant observation (in‑person or via remote video monitoring) to maximize safety.
• Perform general receptionist and clerical duties to support efficient functioning of the nursing unit.
• Document all care provided in the electronic medical record.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred.
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support required within 30 days of hire.
• Current CNA certification preferred.
