PRN Patient Care Nurse Assistant - Float Pool

About the role

Join Cleveland Clinic’s Medina Hospital, a 148‑bed community‑based facility with a 75‑year history of top‑quality patient care. In the Float Pool you will work with diverse patient populations across multiple units, departments, and locations while learning from experienced caregivers. As a Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA) you will assist and provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), handling activities of daily living, ambulation assistance, and basic patient monitoring in a fast‑paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide or assist with patient care under RN supervision, including vital signs, weight, personal care, activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point‑of‑care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices, and removing urinary Foley catheters.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to an RN.
• Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.

Minimum qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (or obtain during the new‑hire period).
• Nursing students: BLS certification required upon hire.
• Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W), or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered.

Preferred qualifications

• State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) certification.

Physical requirements

• Requires full‑body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye‑hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
• Medium work – exerting 20 to 50 lb of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 lb frequently, and/or up to 10 lb constantly to move objects.
• Physical demand requirements exceed those for Light Work.
• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Schedule

PRN caregiver working variable days and hours; 48 hours per 6‑week period required.

Pay

Minimum hourly: $20.75
Maximum hourly: $20.75

The pay range reflects the anticipated range for new hires and does not include shift differentials, overtime, or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package (healthcare, dental and vision benefits, retirement savings account contributions, etc.).
