About the role

The Othro/Post-Surgical Unit is a 32-bed private room unit specializing in Orthopedic care, with patients recovering from surgeries including bariatric, urologic, colorectal, and general procedures. This diverse patient population offers excellent opportunities to sharpen your clinical skills and expand your experience.

Responsibilities

• Performing routine tasks such as measuring and recording vital signs, collecting and labeling specimens including blood draws, and performing venipuncture and chemsticks.
• Aiding with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges as directed by the RN.
• Providing compassionate, hands-on personal care, including bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, mobility, and comfort.
• Communicating effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to support seamless care delivery.
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized patient environment.

Requirements

• Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (Patient Care Technician (PCT), Patient Assistant Technician (PAT)).
• Enrollment in a nursing program with completed Fundamentals of Nursing.
• Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan RN license.
• Medical Assistant program (with or without experience).
• At least one (1) year of experience in a Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Tech, or Patient Assistant Tech, or similar job role.
• Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS Heart Saver Certification during orientation.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

• Prolonged standing, walking, and lifting of patients, supplies, and equipment.
• Exposure to communicable diseases, unpleasant odors, acute patient conditions, potential exposure to infection, and hazardous gases.
