About the role

The IHS is committed to raising the health of American Indian and Alaska Native people. As a Registered Nurse, you will deliver compassionate care in areas such as the Emergency Department, Obstetrics/Labor and Delivery, Operating Room, and Med/Surg-Inpatient.

Responsibilities

  • Assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating the delivery of skilled patient care in accordance with nursing standards and evidence-based practice.
  • Supervising the delivery of nursing care by other professional and non-professional staff, providing guidance, evaluation, and feedback as needed.
  • Collaborating with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare providers to develop and implement coordinated care plans.
  • Utilizing critical thinking skills to make complex clinical decisions and respond effectively to rapidly changing patient conditions.
  • Administering prescribed therapeutic interventions including medications, intravenous fluids, blood products, and other treatments in accordance with established policies and standards of care.
  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating individualized patient care plans across the continuum of care including antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, obstetrical triage, and newborn nursery services.
  • Maintaining required certifications (e.g., BLS, ACLS, NRP) and demonstrating competency in advanced perioperative and procedural nursing skills.
  • Performing on-call duties as required to provide patient care during off-tour hours for emergency surgical and procedural cases.
  • Functions as the second circulator for complex surgical procedures.
  • Promoting evidence-based nursing practice through coordinating care focused on patient education, self-management, and overall satisfaction throughout the continuum of inpatient care.
  • Recognizing changes in patient condition, identifying urgent or emergent situations, and initiating appropriate interventions to ensure patient safety.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse license in the state of Arizona, New Mexico, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, or Wyoming.
  • Experience in Emergency Department, Obstetrics/Labor and Delivery, Operating Room, and Med/Surg-Inpatient settings.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain certifications such as BLS, ACLS, and NRP.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based nursing practices and ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current Registered Nurse license in the state of Arizona, New Mexico, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, or Wyoming.
  • Experience in Emergency Department, Obstetrics/Labor and Delivery, Operating Room, and Med/Surg-Inpatient settings.
  • Completion of relevant continuing education courses.

Pay

$84,363 - $127,725 per year

Schedule
