Under the supervision of the Unit Manager, Supervisor, or delegate in charge of the team/unit, the Nursing Assistant (NA) assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to non-acutely ill patients, and helps maintain a safe and clean environment. The NA must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients of all ages—adolescent through geriatric—and understand the principles of growth and development over the life span as outlined in Nursing Department policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living.
- Provide basic nursing care to non-acutely ill patients.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment.
- Demonstrate knowledge of care appropriate to the age of patients served (adolescent through geriatric).
- Adhere to Nursing Department policies and procedures.
- Float between units and locations as required.
Requirements
- Must be sixteen years of age or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience as a Nursing Assistant preferred.
- Must be CPR certified or willing to become CPR certified.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills for effective interaction with patients, visitors, and hospital personnel.
- Must maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Must successfully pass the Certified Rehabilitation Nursing Assistant test within the orientation period.
