Nurse Aide Trainee

Location: Buffalo, NY (HighPointe on Michigan)

Full-time, onsite position; union-represented (SEIU 1199 BGH Service Workers).

About the role

The Nurse Aide Trainee will participate in vocational training to learn the basic skills required to become a certified nursing assistant. Training includes both classroom education and hands-on clinical skills development and competency evaluation. The trainee will assist residents with activities of daily living according to individualized care plans and must enroll in the next available Nurse Aide Training class.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living in accordance with individualized care plans.
• Participate in classroom and clinical skills training to achieve certification as a nursing assistant.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Must obtain Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification within 120 days of hire.
• One year of experience in long-term care preferred.
• Applicants without a high school diploma or GED must pass a basic reading comprehension skills test.
• Ability to perform medium-duty work, lifting up to 50 lbs.

Schedule

• Full-time, 75 hours bi-weekly (1.0 FTE).
• Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Shift 1).
• No weekends, holidays, on-call, or rotation required.

Pay

Hourly wage range: $19.22 – $25.75. Rate determined based on candidate’s experience, qualifications, internal equity, and applicable collective bargaining agreement.
