About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Aide in Med Surg/Tele (3N) on a full-time, days schedule. Under the supervision of a registered nurse, the successful candidate performs routine service duties and basic nursing procedures to provide for the care, comfort, and safety of patients. The role includes maintaining patient and service rooms, assisting with diagnostic procedure preparation, and participating in the orientation of new employees.
Responsibilities
- Patient Care Delivery:
- Delivers basic nursing care to meet patient comfort and care needs
- Responds promptly to patient call lights and relays information to appropriate nursing personnel
- Observes patients and reports any reactions or changes in condition to the nurse in a timely manner
- Assists patients with activities of daily living, including nourishment, ambulation, personal hygiene, and toileting, adapting care to individual needs
- Provides direct nursing care, including vital signs, weight measurement, baths, skin care, Foley catheter care, enemas, and specimen collection in compliance with policy/procedure
- Demonstrates proper turning, positioning, and transferring techniques
- Distributes patient nourishment, assists with feeding as indicated, and records food/fluid intake
- Environment and Safety:
- Maintains a clean, safe, and organized patient environment
- Monitors and maintains service rooms in an orderly manner
- Prepares equipment for return to Central Service
- Identifies patients prior to care delivery using identification arm bands
- Recognizes safety hazards and acts promptly and appropriately
- Completes patient rounds regularly to monitor safety
- Utilizes proper body mechanics and safety measures during patient or equipment transfers
- Demonstrates compliance with the Falls Prevention Program
- Collaboration and Professional Development:
- Accepts care assignments willingly and assists other units as required
- Responds to workload fluctuations by helping complete tasks for other staff members
- Completes errands as requested
- Interacts effectively with staff across units and departments
- Works collaboratively with management to improve the environment of care for patients, families, and personnel
- Seeks assistance from Nurse Manager and Nursing Administrative Supervisor to resolve issues
- Participates in evaluating the quality and effectiveness of nursing practices and supports improvement measures
- Attends and participates in educational programs to maintain competence
- Complies with staff meeting attendance requirements
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- BLS certification (AHA only) and first aid training
- De-escalation training provided on the job
- Ability to read and write at an elementary school level to understand and record patient care plans
- Ability to perform simple arithmetic calculations for tasks such as recording weight, vital signs, and intake/output
- Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with culturally diverse patients and families
- Basic analytical skills to gather, compare, interpret, and report data
- Ability to manage and perform multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent customer service skills
Pay
The salary range for this role is $51,597.00 annually. Actual salaries depend on factors such as experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. This range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
