Position Summary/Basic Function
NUHOPE is a suicide awareness community outreach program hosted by Weber State University. The Educator/Instructor(s) are responsible for teaching suicide prevention and mental health trainings in Junior High and High Schools in Weber and Davis Counties. Additionally, instructors may be asked to teach sessions in the community in partnership with the university or local health departments. Responsibilities include:
- Working with program coordinator on schedule availability
- Maintaining trainings and certifications
- Preparing for and giving educational training sessions
- Providing trainees with appropriate materials
- Arriving to each session prepared and on time
- Collecting and reviewing evaluation forms from each session
- Improving trainings based on feedback
- Providing the program coordinator with information and data on sessions completed, attendance at the sessions, and mileage for reimbursement
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Demonstrated ability to instruct others
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, specifically PowerPoint
- Must be able to lift 20-30lbs
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in health related field
- Experience training or teaching health interventions
- Certified to teach suicide education and prevention programs (eg. Signs of Suicide, Youth Mental Health First Aid, ASIST, Working Minds, etc.)
