Nuclear Safety Engineer
About the role
As a Nuclear Safety Engineer you will perform routine and calculations under the mentorship of your manager or more senior engineers. Your manager may assign other responsibilities listed below on an as-needed basis.
You will report to the Manager- Nuclear Safety Services and be located at Burr Ridge and can work in a hybrid capacity.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform engineering calculations related to nuclear safety, fluid flow, probability risk assessment, equipment qualification, heat and mass transfer, by manager
- Prepare appropriate documentation supporting evaluations and analyses
- Verify routine design evaluations and analyses performed by others, as qualified.
- Interface on a limited basis with customers, vendors, and other teams on engineering level to obtain information necessary to perform work assignments
- Obtain results to routine technical problems
- Develop skills necessary to assume more independent assignments and support the strategic initiatives
- Identify and recommend improvements in processes on continuing basis and support implementation
- Plan and schedule own work to meet assignment requirements within schedule and budgetary requirements
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of assigned tasks
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical)
- Coding experience in one or more of the following areas is required: Mathcad, C++, Fortran, and Visual Basic.
- We desire experience in dispersion modeling and severe accident modeling and analysis. Additionally, we are interested in thermal-hydraulics modeling and analysis, specifically with RELAP. Furthermore, we are looking for experience in facility hazard modeling and analysis, and equipment qualification. Laboratory experience with custom experiments is also desirable.
Pay
The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $58,400 to 73,000 per year.
