About the role

Perform nuclear medicine procedures. Guide and mentor Nuclear Medicine Technologist I and students. Provide accurate explanations and instructions to patients and family members.

Responsibilities

  • Perform nuclear medicine procedures
  • Assist with diagnostic or therapeutic interventions
  • Provide direct assistance to physicians during procedures
  • Proactively assess, identify and respond to patient needs
  • Provide accurate explanations and instructions to patients and family members
  • Follow safety standards and conduct imaging procedures accordingly
  • Identify opportunities for corrective action and process improvement
  • Ensure all imaging equipment has had quality control performed and is in safe working order
  • Assist with implementation and education of department based safety initiatives and standards of practice
  • Provide accurate and complete documentation of patient procedures
  • Use resources efficiently; do not waste supplies
  • Manage time effectively and prioritize daily tasks
  • Participate in special projects, department initiatives or shared governance activities

Requirements

  • Graduate of education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s) indicated below in the Certifications, Licenses and Registrations section
  • Three years’ experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist
  • BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA)
  • CMRT - Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist - State Licensure - Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation_PSV
  • Must have one of the following: ARRT-N - Radiologic Technologist - Nuclear Medicine Tech (ARRT), CNMT - Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMTCB)

Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job
  • Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers
  • Ability to work independently; capable of handling challenging / difficult diagnostic procedures and patient care situations
  • Possesses basic computer knowledge; operates multiple computer systems to include, Hospital / Radiology Information Systems and Office software
  • Exhibits strong interpersonal and team player skills with all levels of the healthcare team
  • Adapts to multiple ongoing priorities with minimal supervision

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent education
  • Criminal justice, security or related experience preferred
  • Security Officer state license: Security Officer Non-Commissioned, submission of application within 14 days

Schedule

5-8-hour shifts working Monday to Friday from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm Call and holidays required.
