Position Summary

The nuclear medicine technologist uses radioactive materials in specialized studies of body organs and/or laboratory analysis to assist the physician in the diagnosis of disease and injury.

Education, License & Cert

High school graduate and graduation from an American Medical Association approved program. Must be registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist meeting the requirements of ARRT and NYS.

Experience

Graduate of approved AMA program

Essential Functions

  • Dose management and administration
  • Diagnostic Imaging and processing
  • Daily equipment quality control
  • Radiation safety/compliance
  • Assist physician in preparation and administration of radiopharmaceutical therapy

Other Duties

  • Explain procedures to patients, medical personnel and others so as to ensure cooperation in scheduling and performance of procedures
  • Procure and maintain inventory of radiopharmaceuticals and other items needed to ensure operation of department
  • Able to work alone (on call) and get job done in an efficient manner
  • Able to be in the department within 30 minutes after being called for a procedure
  • Maintain other records with the RSO as required by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and other regulatory agencies
  • Track patients and studies utilizing Epic Radiant RIS
