Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Part-time, contingent role with a rotating shift.

About the Role

Certified Nuclear Medical Technologist providing on-call, weekend, weekday, and holiday coverage for technologists on medical leave. Responsibilities include performing nuclear medicine procedures, quality control, and venipuncture as needed by the department.

Responsibilities

• Prepares diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals.
• Administers radiopharmaceuticals to patients after explaining the procedure and obtaining a complete patient history.
• Physically assists patients in assuming required imaging positions to ensure complete diagnostic studies are obtained.
• Calibrates and operates thyroid uptake systems, Geiger counters, dose calibrators, and other departmental equipment.
• Calibrates and operates computerized imaging systems, including SPECT, to image, process, and photograph patient studies.
• Develops film and reviews them with the Radiologist.
• Follows departmental safety policies, including infection control and radiation safety.

Requirements

• Graduate of a school of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
• Baccalaureate degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology is desirable.
• Must be registered by one of the following registries: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB). Registry-eligible individuals may be considered but must become registered within 90 days.
• Prior experience in a busy hospital setting is highly desirable.
• Experience with SPECT is highly desirable.
• Experience with Nuclear Cardiology is highly desirable.
