Part-time, contingent role with a rotating shift.
About the Role
Certified Nuclear Medical Technologist providing on-call, weekend, weekday, and holiday coverage for technologists on medical leave. Responsibilities include performing nuclear medicine procedures, quality control, and venipuncture as needed by the department.
Responsibilities
- Prepares diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals.
- Administers radiopharmaceuticals to patients after explaining the procedure and obtaining a complete patient history.
- Physically assists patients in assuming required imaging positions to ensure complete diagnostic studies are obtained.
- Calibrates and operates thyroid uptake systems, Geiger counters, dose calibrators, and other departmental equipment.
- Calibrates and operates computerized imaging systems, including SPECT, to image, process, and photograph patient studies.
- Develops film and reviews them with the Radiologist.
- Follows departmental safety policies, including infection control and radiation safety.
Requirements
- Graduate of a school of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
- Baccalaureate degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology is desirable.
- Must be registered by one of the following registries: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB). Registry-eligible individuals may be considered but must become registered within 90 days.
- Prior experience in a busy hospital setting is highly desirable.
- Experience with SPECT is highly desirable.
- Experience with Nuclear Cardiology is highly desirable.
