Responsibilities

  • Prepare and administer radioactive drugs (radiopharmaceuticals) to patients for imaging or treatment, primarily for diagnosing cancers and cardiovascular diseases.
  • Operate specialized imaging devices like gamma cameras and PET scanners.
  • Work with department associates and medical staff to improve care and workflow by providing support, education and assistance to customers and fellow colleagues.
  • Support the Imaging Department by effectively supporting patients and providing essential treatments.
  • Respond to emergency situations, i.e., contrast reactions and medical emergencies according to departmental, clinic and hospital policy.
  • Advise the nurse in charge of the patient of any unusual occurrence which happened to the patient while in the Imaging Department.
  • Operate the required digital equipment effectively in the production, storage and transmission of images.
  • Report any equipment problems, safety issues or patient complaints to supervisor.
  • Provide backup assistance to other associates in the department upon completion of duties or as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nuclear Medicine Technology
  • Florida License as a General Radiographer (RAD)
  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) or certified with the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Qualifications

  • Two years of experience as an Imaging Technologist in an acute care imaging setting (preferred)

  • Knowledge of federal and state regulatory requirements
