PRN position available for a Nuclear Medicine Technician in a busy Nuclear Stress Test Lab in Myrtle Beach. This role fills in on an as-needed basis.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with patients and doctors to support diagnostic and treatment activities while minimizing health risks for patients.
  • Prepare, measure, and administer radiopharmaceuticals using a variety of equipment and following prescribed procedures.
  • Administer diagnostic doses of radiopharmaceuticals under the direction of a physician.
  • Follow radiation safety techniques when disposing of radioactive materials.
  • Demonstrate current competencies applicable to the job position.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
  • Minimum two years of experience in a clinic setting.
  • Registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (CNMT).
  • SCQRSA license required.

Knowledge

  • Nuclear medicine and stress testing principles and standards.
  • Use and maintenance of nuclear medicine equipment.
  • Safety, infection control policies, and regulations.
  • Use of various electronic information systems.
  • Experience with Spectrum Dual D-Spect with Open design is a plus.

Skills

  • Following appropriate testing procedures.
  • Proper equipment use, preventive maintenance, and repair.
  • Quality control and confidentiality procedures.
  • Using various information systems.

Abilities

  • Exercise independent judgment and decision-making in reporting and distributing results.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families, and staff.
  • Organize effectively and work quickly with a high level of accuracy.
  • Make basic troubleshooting decisions.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily a clinic setting.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, fumes, hazardous materials, and noise.

Physical/Mental Demands

  • Varied activities including standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, lifting, and stooping.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, or push up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires eye-hand coordination.
  • Occasional stress from workload.
