Job Summary

The Department of Radiology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Nuclear Medicine Manager / TH Medical Radiography Assistant Director. The successful candidate will:

  • Supervise and perform technical procedures involving nuclear medicine equipment.
  • Demonstrate ability to perform and document quality control procedures, troubleshoot problems, and communicate failures.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards such as Joint Commission and New York Department of Health.
  • Become knowledgeable about departmental policies and procedures, including quality control.
  • Prepare radiopharmaceuticals for various administration methods and perform diagnostic procedures.
  • Document patient histories and conduct follow-up examinations.
  • Show understanding of radiation exposure, procedures, and imaging techniques.
  • Ensure safety measures for both patients and staff.
  • Identify and address sources of radiation contamination.
  • Train student technologists and medical students.
  • Handle emergencies and provide patient care during imaging studies.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and adhere to policies and procedures.
  • Use computerized patient information systems and maintain accurate records.
  • Show flexibility in scheduling and availability for on-call duties.
