About the role
As a PET technologist, you will provide a professional, caring atmosphere to all customer groups while maintaining a fast-paced, multi-tasked clinical environment. Perform advanced PET/CT imaging procedures, including participation in brain imaging and neurologic research protocols supporting innovative clinical studies. Utilize specialty PET radiotracers such as PSMA, Ga-68 NetSpot, and Illuccix, expanding expertise beyond standard FDG imaging.
Schedule
- Monday: 6:00am – 7:30pm at Central Maine Medical Center
- Wednesday: 7:00am – 8:00pm at York Hospital in Wells
- Friday: 6:00am – 7:30pm at Central Maine Medical Center
Responsibilities
- Follow all Shields Health Care Group policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure patient safety at all times.
- Adhere to rules and regulations established by the NRC, state regulatory agencies, and JCAHO.
- Inform the patient of all aspects of their exam to their level of understanding.
- Operate PET equipment to produce images and measure concentrations of radioactive isotopes in specific body areas and body products.
- Perform all hot lab responsibilities.
- Ensure patient is cleared of all contraindications and hazards.
- Accurately position the patient and ensure their comfort.
- Maintain visual and verbal contact with the patient during the exam.
- Complete all forms pertaining to the patient’s exam.
- Record patient data to Tech Data Entry program.
- Provide and issue films when appropriate.
- Forward PET-related data to Radiologist upon completion of exam.
- Refilm cases as time allows.
- Assist clerical staff as circumstances arise.
- Clean and re-supply equipment and rooms as needed.
Requirements
- Must possess a state license for the state(s) in which employed.
- Must be certified in CPR.
- Must be registered by the ARRT and/or NMTCB.
- A minimum of one-year prior nuclear medicine experience is required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in starting IVs.
- Able to sit and utilize a computer for extended periods.
- Able to assist patients with mobility difficulties.
- Able to push, pull, and lift a minimum of twenty-five pounds.
Pay
Pay range for this position is $40 – $60 per hour plus benefits. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
