Nuclear Infrastructure Expert (P4), US-Funded Cost Free Expert

Main Purpose

The Nuclear Infrastructure Expert will participate in the planning, organization and implementation of IAEA's activities and projects in the field of nuclear power infrastructure development with particular emphasis on infrastructure needed to create an enabling environment to accelerate advanced NPP and SMR deployments, backstopped (or coordinated) by NIDS for countries interested in embarking on new or expanded existing nuclear power programmes.

Functions / Key Results Expected

• Implement and evaluate projects in capacity building for infrastructure development in collaboration with technical experts from inside and outside the Section.
• As a Technical Officer, backstop technical cooperation projects in the subject areas, evaluating proposals and planning and implementing activities; review the results achieved and conduct analysis.
• Develop, maintain, and promote best practices on key section processes for coordinating IAEA assistance with Member States' national activities.
• Initiate, plan and conduct technical meetings, consultancy meetings, Integrated Workplan meetings, and national, regional, or interregional workshops for Member States related to nuclear infrastructure and nuclear power programme development.
• Develop technical documents and reports on various aspects of the IAEA's activities on nuclear infrastructure.
• Provide information, advice and guidance on nuclear infrastructure and nuclear power programme planning.
• Cook up and liaise with external institutions and stakeholders; gather, maintain and apply knowledge of international best practice and future trends in the subject area.

Qualifications

• Advanced university degree in nuclear science, engineering, physics, international relations, or management.
• Minimum of seven years of experience in the relevant field.
• Experience in developing partnerships and assistance supporting Member States embarking on Nuclear Power.
• Experience in all aspects of infrastructure necessary to support nuclear power development and the infrastructure required to achieve this.
• Experience in conducting/coordinating international peer review and/or advisory missions.
• Experience of working in a national/international nuclear organization or institute desirable.
• Experience to operate effectively across organizational boundaries and the ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships and working relations in a multicultural, multi-ethnic environment.
• Excellent oral and written command of English.
• Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.
