Responsibilities

• Provide technical support and professional expertise to ensure radiation protection programs safeguard plant personnel and the public.
• Review changes to federal, state, and local radiation protection regulations to maintain compliance.
• Ensure programs and procedures comply with all Federal and State regulations and industry standards.
• Coordinate corrective action document responses for the Radiation Protection Department.
• Review RFRs (Radiological Field Reports) to ensure appropriate actions are taken.
• Develop and maintain analytical efforts in applied radiation protection to support plant operations.
• Perform evaluations, calculations, and problem-solving for radiological issues.
• Compile and submit reports to meet federal regulatory requirements, technical specifications, and state legislation.
• Prepare and review changes to procedures, FSAR, Technical Specifications, and other documents.
• Prepare reports to support federal regulations and plant operations.
• Provide support for special research and development work.
• Prepare equipment and software specifications; evaluate equipment and software for suitability.
• Perform in-house surveillance activities to supplement independent quality control/quality assurance.
• Set, reinforce, and communicate high standards; promote teamwork and excellence; foster nuclear, radiological, human performance, and industrial safety behaviors.
• Provide coaching to workers; implement performance improvement initiatives; participate in training and development of workers.
• Develop and broaden worker skills; oversee on-the-job training; support self-assessments.
• Assume Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duties per the Callaway Plant Radiological Emergency Response Plan (RERP), including responding to the plant within required response times.

Requirements

Staff Health Physicist:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Minimum of four years of applicable experience. A master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience; a doctorate may substitute for two years if coursework is related to radiation protection.
• Other: NRRPT certification or ABHP Part 1 preferred.

Senior Health Physicist:

• Education: Bachelor of Science in chemistry, physics, health physics, nuclear engineering, engineering, or equivalent from an accredited institution (including formal radiation protection training) desired. In lieu of a degree, eight years of applicable experience may substitute.
• Experience: Minimum of six years of applicable experience. A master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience; a doctorate may substitute for two years if coursework is related to radiation protection.
• Other: NRRPT certification or ABHP Part 1 required.

Consulting Health Physicist:

• Education: Bachelor of Science in chemistry, physics, health physics, nuclear engineering, engineering, or equivalent from an accredited institution, including formal training in radiation protection.
• Experience: Minimum of six years of applicable experience. A master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience; a doctorate may substitute for two years if coursework is related to radiation protection.
• Other: Either ABHP certification or a minimum of one year of experience as a fully-qualified Radioactive Material Shipper at a commercial nuclear facility is required.

All candidates must demonstrate:

• Proficiency with common computer programs, especially Microsoft applications.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.

Schedule

• Standard day shift in an office/plant environment.
• Callouts, rotating, or outage schedules may be required to support plant operations and departmental functions.
• On-call duty periods required to support the Emergency Response Organization.

Pay

Compensation range: $84,400 – $172,200. Base salary depends on credentials and career level. Roles are eligible for annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
