Nuclear Education Center Specialist (Part-Time)

Onsite, part-time role (3 days / 24 hours per week) at the World of Energy education center in Seneca, South Carolina.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced education professional with a strong background in instructional delivery, particularly for older students and adults. The ideal candidate will have experience tailoring presentations for diverse audiences and working with a wide variety of groups.

Responsibilities

  • Facility Operations
    • Open and close facilities to accommodate groups and walk-ins during regularly scheduled hours
    • Maintain a presence during opening hours to answer questions and greet guests
    • Coordinate with Site Services, Security, and local IT to ensure the facility is clean, landscaped, secure, and in good working order
    • Collaborate with Nuclear Communications to recommend IT equipment and materials to support education center presentations and activities
    • Suggest content for digital signage to promote education center activities
    • Manage education center email and public phone line; respond to community questions via phone and email in coordination with Corporate Communications
  • Educational Programming
    • Provide educational presentations to groups based on standardized, pre-approved content
    • Schedule and organize education center groups in coordination with Nuclear Communications
    • Work with Nuclear Communications to adjust presentations as needed for different audiences
    • Plan and support key education center events; manage event logistics including vendor coordination and supply ordering
    • Coordinate with Nuclear Communications and site leadership to recruit volunteers for presentations
  • Event Support
    • Plan and promote key education center community events
    • Serve as the single point of contact for pre-event staging and day-of logistics
    • Manage event logistics including scheduling vendors, organizing volunteers, and coordinating facility preparation
    • Work with site leadership to identify and recruit event volunteers

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrated instructional experience, particularly with older students and adults
  • Experience tailoring presentations for different audiences
  • Experience working with diverse groups

Physical requirements

  • Occasional light lifting (10-15 lbs), such as chairs and boxes

  • Gloves will be provided for lifting tasks
  • Work is performed in an office/education center environment with no hazardous work conditions
