About the role
NSIP offers an intensive, full-time, eight-week program designed to provide vocational training and on-the-job experience in the homeless services field. Interns will support residents at shelters through various roles.
Responsibilities
- Residential Aide: Monitor residents' activities, conduct inspections, document incidents, and plan recreational activities.
- Front Desk Attendant: Manage the front desk, answer calls, greet clients, complete health screenings, and direct clients.
- Custodian: Maintain cleanliness and safety in dormitories, dining spaces, restrooms, and other public areas under the supervision of building managers.
- Rehabilitation Aide: Process new intakes, file documents, organize client charts, ensure quiet and safety, and facilitate client activities.
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Interest in working with the homeless population in a shelter setting.
- Currently not employed and open to flexible scheduling.
