NSBC - Level II Automation Engineer
About the role
The Process Automation Engineer will work alongside the maintenance and operations teams to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the plant. This role involves leading by example with respect to safety, reliability, quality, costs, process improvement, and project management. The engineer will be responsible for the level 2 automation systems and ensure the optimum performance of equipment for plant operations through continual improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside the maintenance and operations teams to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the plant.
- Lead by example with respect to safety, reliability, quality, costs, process improvement, and project management.
- Ensure the optimum performance of equipment for plant operations through continual improvement initiatives.
- Work as part of the process automation team.
- Be responsible for the level 2 automation systems.
- Availability for scheduled and unscheduled overtime, including nights, holidays, and weekends.
Requirements
- Four-year degree in Engineering/Computer Science or related field and/or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrable experience or ability to troubleshoot, modify, and write software to control a function or system.
- Two years of experience in industrial process control/automation and/or related education.
- Industrial process control/automation equipment upgrade experience.
- Experience working in a heavy industrial environment.
- Working knowledge of computer administration (e.g. Windows, Linux).
- Working knowledge with virtual machines (e.g. VMWare).
- Experience working on Level 2 automation control systems (e.g. databases, setup models, C/C++/C# applications, front and back-end Web development).
- Experience building, maintaining, and utilizing databases (e.g. SQL).
- Working knowledge and experience with networking and communication technologies (e.g. Ethernet, fiber, switching, routing).
Qualifications
- Four-year degree in Engineering/Computer Science or related field and/or equivalent experience.
- Preferred qualifications include two years of experience in industrial process control/automation and/or related education, experience working in a heavy industrial environment, working knowledge of computer administration, working knowledge with virtual machines, experience working on Level 2 automation control systems, experience building, maintaining, and utilizing databases, and working knowledge and experience with networking and communication technologies.
