NRT Program Coordinator - Mechanical Eng

This position supports specialized knowledge or skills acquired through experience, academic work at 2-year technical institutes, junior colleges, or equivalent on-the-job training. It includes roles such as computer programmers, engineering aides, licensed practical/vocational nurses, technicians (medical, dental, electronic, physical science), and similar technical assignments. It also covers supportive roles requiring less formal training or experience than professional technical status, potentially within a staff development and promotion framework.

Responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate, and implement program activities, including workshops, seminar series, conferences, and meetings.
• Collaborate with the leadership team, faculty, and students to ensure proper program implementation and student progression through the curriculum.
• Design and maintain the program website and other marketing materials.
• Track and manage data on activities, student participation, and budgetary expenses.
• Communicate regularly with program participants (students, faculty, industry collaborators, advisory board members) via diverse media (in-person, phone, email).
• Provide day-to-day coordination for the NSF NRT program, supporting trainees and faculty mentors.
• Manage program logistics, events, and documentation.
• Assist with NSF reporting and compliance requirements.

Job duties breakdown:

• 50%: Develop, coordinate, and implement program activities in collaboration with the leadership team (4 Principal Investigators) and other participating faculty.
• 30%: Communicate with faculty and students about program activities and requirements, including coordination with campus units such as the Graduate School, College of Engineering, registrar, and financial aid.
• 20%: Collect, maintain, and share program records according to university policies. Ensure program compliance (e.g., IRB) and work with the Webmaster to update the website and marketing materials.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience in office/administrative support or research support.
• College education may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Four years of directly relevant experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree (FLSB1310 Equivalency).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience in project management (business or STEM fields).
• Excellent organizational, oral and written communication, and time management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment.
• Experience in collecting data for program assessment and evaluation.
• Experience in event organization and management.
• Experience in coordinating internship programs.
• Experience in collecting and organizing program budgeting data.
