Job Summary

The New Product Introduction (NPI), Research & Development (R&D), Outsource Purchasing Specialist will play a critical role in the procurement process for research and development projects and new products, ensuring that materials, components, and services are sourced effectively and efficiently to meet project timelines and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sourcing and Procurement: Identify and evaluate potential suppliers for new products, components, and materials. Help identify best suppliers from the base for prototyping and development. Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement.
  • Manage supplier relationships to ensure quality, delivery, and compliance with specifications.
  • Develop and maintain purchased component budgets for NPI and R&D projects, ensuring adherence to financial targets.
  • Cook up all material related issues pertaining to new program development and serve as the main focal point for varied outsourcing projects.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering and program management teams to understand product specifications and requirements. Collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams to ensure that sourced materials meet NPI and R&D and subsequent production needs and quality standards. Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements and work collaborated with internal and external teams to accomplish.
  • Project Management: Develop and maintain project timelines in conjunction with project managers for NPI and R&D initiatives, ensuring that procurement activities align with key program milestones and product launch schedules. Prepare regular reports on NPI, R&D, and outsource procurement activities, supplier performance, and project status for management review, addressing any issues that may impact timelines or budgets. Facilitate activities assigned within the supply chain team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience which has provided both theoretical and practical knowledge in the field.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through five or more years of increasingly responsible experience in procurement or project administration including two or more years of high-level project and customer/supplier management.
  • Certificate in Purchasing Management (CPM) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) desired.
  • Proactive self-starter with a strong ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Understand manufacturing processes and product development.
  • Familiar with Aerospace quality standards and compliance requirements.
  • Able to effectively assess, lead, and implement continuous improvement in critical and/or high-impact areas.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Able to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Proactive and adaptable, with a willingness to take initiative and drive results.
