Opportunity Overview

The NPI Manufacturing Engineer will work with project teams across a range of projects to help move new products from the concept stage through final transfer to our contract manufacturer. Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with other engineering groups to identify and resolve design issues early in the new product development cycle.
  • Enable a timely transfer of new products to volume manufacturing.
  • Create detailed assembly process documents for pilot production teams and contract manufacturers.
  • Design and qualify assembly tools and fixtures used in the assembly of products.
  • Evaluate product assembly issues and collaborate with other groups to determine the root cause and corrective action.
  • Work with suppliers to design and validate packaging solutions for new products.
  • Train personnel on proper methods for assembling products.
  • Assist in completing other department projects as required.
  • Submit ECNs to modify designs or release them to production.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Process, or related disciplines)
  • 5+ years of related work experience in a manufacturing engineering position
  • Experience working with lasers, fiberoptic connections, and clean room environments
  • A strong mechanical aptitude with an eagerness to comprehend how things go together and a willingness to offer ideas for improving the overall product design
  • Experience developing assembly processes flows from solid models, bills of material, and other available design information
  • Experience creating and maintaining detailed product assembly instructions
  • Experience developing mechanical tools and fixtures used in the assembly of mechanical and electro-mechanical products
  • Ability to design and document parts and assemblies in SolidWorks
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks PDM is a plus
  • Experience with PLM; Teamcenter preferred
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work on-site in our North Reading Facility
  • Ability to travel domestically/internationally as needed (10–25%)
