Opportunity Overview
The NPI Manufacturing Engineer will work with project teams across a range of projects to help move new products from the concept stage through final transfer to our contract manufacturer. Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with other engineering groups to identify and resolve design issues early in the new product development cycle.
- Enable a timely transfer of new products to volume manufacturing.
- Create detailed assembly process documents for pilot production teams and contract manufacturers.
- Design and qualify assembly tools and fixtures used in the assembly of products.
- Evaluate product assembly issues and collaborate with other groups to determine the root cause and corrective action.
- Work with suppliers to design and validate packaging solutions for new products.
- Train personnel on proper methods for assembling products.
- Assist in completing other department projects as required.
- Submit ECNs to modify designs or release them to production.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Process, or related disciplines)
- 5+ years of related work experience in a manufacturing engineering position
- Experience working with lasers, fiberoptic connections, and clean room environments
- A strong mechanical aptitude with an eagerness to comprehend how things go together and a willingness to offer ideas for improving the overall product design
- Experience developing assembly processes flows from solid models, bills of material, and other available design information
- Experience creating and maintaining detailed product assembly instructions
- Experience developing mechanical tools and fixtures used in the assembly of mechanical and electro-mechanical products
- Ability to design and document parts and assemblies in SolidWorks
- Familiarity with SolidWorks PDM is a plus
- Experience with PLM; Teamcenter preferred
- Excellent problem-solving skills and strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work on-site in our North Reading Facility
- Ability to travel domestically/internationally as needed (10–25%)
