New Product Introduction
The New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineer - Mechanical is critical in bridging the gap between product development and manufacturing, ensuring smooth transitions from design to full-scale production of new and complex products.
- Create and document detailed assembly and test production processes and procedures, including equipment selection and validation, equipment setup, test board PCB design, work instructions development, training, and calibration and acceptance test procedure (ATP) validation testing.
- Coordinate closely with the design and process engineering teams to ensure product specifications are clearly defined and achievable within manufacturing constraints.
- Develop and maintain detailed project timelines, budgets, and resource plans to ensure timely and cost-effective product launches.
Product Sustainability
- Investigates research and front-end feasibility studies to source and qualify new test equipment for the Company’s products.
- Supports and utilizes the Company’s Item Master Database to track upcoming and ongoing project releases from Engineering.
- Troubleshoots and optimizes test stand circuits, including soldering small components, wires, and test points for temporary resolution and test board redesigns for permanent solutions.
- Defines production test software needs and collaborates with the software engineering team to validate and implement new software releases, patches, and upgrades with minimal disruption and downtime on production flow.
Training and Support
- Trains other engineers to replicate new product test setups for the production floor.
- Aids in developing the skills of NPI team technicians and production test technicians.
- Provides ongoing training to new and existing Manufacturing Process Engineers and production technicians on products and production processes.
- Supports production supervisors and team leaders, as needed, to keep the manufacturing line running optimally.
- Supports quality engineers, as needed, to document production processes and NPI project work as required by company and industry standards.
- Provides feedback to the Operations Management team on product and process improvements and modifications.
