Position Summary
The Nurse Practitioner/Physicians Assistant operates as established medical authorities through collaborative care agreement with physicians and surgeons. The NP/PA is responsible for but not limited to the following:
Experience
- 1 year in primary care, emergency room, surgery or occupational medicine settings is required
- New graduates welcome; candidates must demonstrate strong clinical judgment, willingness to learn, and ability to work within a collaborative care team
Education
- Graduation from an accredited Physician’s Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Program approved by the American Medical Association is required
- PA-C: Physician Assistant certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician's Assistants (NCCPA) AND Licensed by the Oregon Board of Medical Examiners (OBME)
- NP: Nurse Practitioner licensed by Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) AND RN: Registered Nurse licensed by Oregon State board of Nursing
Certification/Licensure
- BLS: Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required upon start
- Required certifications based on area of specialty and defined by Asante medical staff services are as follows: Advance Care Nurse Practitioner Certification
