About the role
The Massachusetts General Hospital Pulmonary Associates Clinic seeks a skilled Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to join their team. This role involves providing comprehensive care to a panel of outpatients, collaborating with a team of physicians, and engaging in research and education.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct care, counseling, and education to a designated patient population in various settings.
- Takes complete histories and performs physical examinations.
- Develops and implements appropriate treatment plans based on diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
- Counsels patients and their families on health management and preventive care.
- Orders and administers medications as prescribed.
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation, including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
- Participates in multidisciplinary care teams to address complex patient needs.
- Engages in research and educational activities to enhance patient care and professional development.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant degree.
- Significant experience in nursing or as a PA, with prior experience as an NP preferred.
- Experience in pulmonary disorders.
- Current licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as an APRN or Physician Assistant.
Qualifications
- 2 years of licensed nurse practitioner or physician assistant experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Skilled in taking medical histories to assess medical conditions and interpret findings.
- Ability to maintain quality control standards.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
