NP/PA - Pulmonary Outpatient Clinic - MGH

About the role

The Massachusetts General Hospital Pulmonary Associates Clinic seeks a skilled Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to join their team. This role involves providing comprehensive care to a panel of outpatients, collaborating with a team of physicians, and engaging in research and education.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct care, counseling, and education to a designated patient population in various settings.
• Takes complete histories and performs physical examinations.
• Develops and implements appropriate treatment plans based on diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
• Counsels patients and their families on health management and preventive care.
• Orders and administers medications as prescribed.
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation, including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
• Participates in multidisciplinary care teams to address complex patient needs.
• Engages in research and educational activities to enhance patient care and professional development.

Requirements

• Master's Degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant degree.
• Significant experience in nursing or as a PA, with prior experience as an NP preferred.
• Experience in pulmonary disorders.
• Current licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as an APRN or Physician Assistant.

Qualifications

• 2 years of licensed nurse practitioner or physician assistant experience.

• Skilled in taking medical histories to assess medical conditions and interpret findings.
• Ability to maintain quality control standards.
• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
• Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
