About the Role

ECU Health Physicians and The Outer Banks Health Hospital, located in Nags Head, NC, are seeking a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, Acute Care trained Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant to provide care for newborn infants and/or pediatric patients. The successful candidate will incorporate monthly rotations at ECU Health Maynard Children's Hospital in Greenville, NC, for high-risk resuscitation skills and competency maintenance.

  • Support and continuous competency training provided by Maynard Children’s Hospital at ECU Health Medical Center
  • 12 (24-hour) call shifts per month
  • 16 days off per 28-day period

Clinical responsibilities include rounding and coordination of care from admission to discharge for all newborn patients, attending high-risk deliveries, and participating in the resuscitation, stabilization, and transfer of critically ill neonates as needed. Transfer support is provided by ECU Health Medical Center.

Requirements

  • Neonatal NP or Pediatric NP-AC, or Physician Assistant with experience in Newborn or NICU
  • NC RN licensure & NC Nurse Practitioner or NC licensure as a Physician Assistant
  • National Board Certification as a Neonatal NP, Pediatric NP-AC, or as Physician Assistant, including maintenance
  • 2+ years of experience in a healthcare setting
  • BLS certification from The American Heart Association

Outer Banks Health Hospital (OBH) is a full-service critical access hospital offering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services. The 21-bed facility serves a coastal community with a year-round population of approximately 35,000, swelling to about 350,000 in the summer. Its campus includes:

  • 42 general/intermediate pediatric beds
