NP/PA - Cardiovascular Surgery

About the role

An experienced Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) specializing in cardiothoracic surgery, supporting a team of surgeons and healthcare professionals in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in cardiovascular and thoracic surgeries, including vein harvesting, CABG, and valve procedures.
• Perform inpatient rounding, outpatient clinic visits, and assess new consults and hospital admissions.
• Manage preoperative and postoperative patient care, including invasive procedures such as vascular access, Swan-Ganz insertion, and chest tube placement.
• Participate in surgical assistance, both first and second assisting, and provide comprehensive history and physical exams.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure quality and compassionate care.
• Engage in rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, with shared call responsibilities.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of cardiac surgical experience; hospital and ambulatory settings preferred.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Active Louisiana PA license or eligibility.
• Experience with robotic surgery is a plus; training provided if needed.
• Strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and ability to work effectively within a team.
• Preferred experience in ICU and telemetry settings; training available for invasive procedures.
