NP- ACUTE CARE NP OUTPATIENT + PRE & POST ADMISSIONS/INPATIENT and SURGICAL FIRST ASSIST

About the role

Assists with responding promptly to neurosurgical consults, admissions, and provider rounds (writing notes, orders, wound care, etc.). Enters admission, pre- and post-operative and consultative orders in a timely fashion. Facilitates preparation of patients for surgery. Assists with surgical procedures after completing RN First Assistant Certification within the Operating Room. Facilitates timely communication with family and patients.

Responsibilities

  • Responds promptly to neurosurgical consults, admissions, and provider rounds
  • Enters admission, pre- and post-operative and consultative orders in a timely fashion
  • Facilitates preparation of patients for surgery
  • Assists with surgical procedures after completing RN First Assistant Certification
  • Facilitates timely communication with family and patients
  • Works flexible assigned shifts and be on-call
  • Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations

Requirements

  • Knowledgeable of neurosurgical patient standard practices
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills
  • Developed effective working relationships with physicians and interdisciplinary teams
  • Works well with people of all social, economic, and cultural backgrounds
  • Flexible, open-minded and adaptable to change
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills with the ability to convey understanding the progress of complex issues
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Culturally sensitive
  • Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions

Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Nursing (Nurse Practitioner)
