About the role

At Nothing Bundt Cakes, the Assistant Baker supports the bakery process, from preparing ingredients to dishwashing, ensuring consistency in crafting guests’ favorite recipes. You’ll assist in making cakes, maintain cleanliness, and uphold health and safety standards while enjoying a fun, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Assists baker with accurately preparing raw ingredients and equipment for baking, places cake pans into hot oven, and monitors the baking process.
• Cools, packages, labels, and stores cakes per standards; manages cake rotation and maintains baking, refrigeration, and wastage logs.
• Assists baker in managing inventory and organization of the Chiller.
• Washes, rinses, and sanitizes all baking pans, dishes, utensils, and tools manually and with automatic washing equipment, adhering to protocols.
• Monitors water sanitization levels to ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines.
• Gathers and removes garbage and recyclables; sweeps and mops floors; cleans floor drains.
• Performs routine cleaning of bathrooms, ovens, oven racks, and baking pans/trays.
• Cleans, sanitizes, and restocks baking and utility workstations; ensures cleaning supplies are prepared for the next shift.
• Monitors inventory of cleaning supplies and notifies management when replenishment is required.
• Inventories, labels, and shelves incoming product orders and deliveries.
• Completes opening and closing Baking and Utility checklists for each shift.
• Complies with all health and safety guidelines, policies, and procedures, including dress code and personal hygiene.
• Maintains consistent work attendance and punctuality.

Skills and Abilities

• Understands written and oral directions, interprets instructional documents (e.g., recipes, operating procedures, health/safety rules), and applies knowledge to job responsibilities. Recipes available in English and Spanish.
• Familiar with basic U.S. units of measurement.
• Performs repetitious, physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods.
• Operates commercial-grade ovens and bakery equipment; works near high-heat sources.
• Meticulous with exact measurements, timing, and fast-paced production schedules.
• Evaluates products, processes, and surroundings for compliance with standards.
• Strictly adheres to health/safety practices and work environment standards.

Requirements

• Must be 17 years of age or older.
• No formal education or work experience required, but previous bakery, restaurant, or foodservice experience is a plus.
• Must complete and maintain a Washington State Food Handlers permit.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, evenings, and weekends based on business demands.
