About This Position

The Parks and Recreation Department provides residents and visitors with more than 41,000 acres of desert parks and mountain preserves. The parks feature 41 trailheads and more than 200 miles of trails, and 185 city parks. Additionally, there are 32 community and recreation centers, classes, and sports programs for all ages, 29 pools, eight golf courses, and a variety of specialty and cultural venues and facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise staff engaged in turf, landscape, tree and shrub, and facilities maintenance activities.
  • Oversee teams of up to fifty skilled trades personnel including Parks Foreman I positions engaged in the maintenance, operations, and construction of parks, buildings, playgrounds, and public right-of-way.
  • Identify, resolve, and regulate environmental compliance issues.
  • May include research and writing reports on inventory, productivity, safety, budget and manage contract compliance.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience in parks or golf course care and facilities maintenance, including two years of supervisory experience at a first line parks foreman level (equivalent to Parks Foreman I).
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

Qualifications

  • Experience in management and supervision.
  • Experience in Capital Improvement Oversight.
  • Two years of experience in facility maintenance.
  • Advanced training in professional development.
  • Three years of experience in the management of athletic turf.
  • Certifications relevant to the field including the Office of Pest Management.

Pay

Pay Range: $30.92 - $45.67 per hour.
Hiring Range: $30.92 - $39.45 per hour.
Pay Range Explanation: Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification. Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.
