North Texas Wastewater Market Sector Leader

About the role

We are seeking a Wastewater Market Sector Leader at HDR, a leading provider in the drinking water and recycled water markets. This role involves setting the vision and strategy for HDR’s North Texas Area, managing client relationships, and overseeing project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Develop and drive a long-range Wastewater vision and strategy for HDR’s North Texas Area.
• Engage in professional organizations allied to the wastewater market.
• Collaborate with other technical and marketing staff in the pursuit of new projects.
• Support the development of and provide reviews of scopes of work, fee estimates, project risk identification, and project schedules.
• Coordinate staffing/recruiting plans for key hires and assist leadership as necessary with technical or project management hires.
• Identify technical gaps and support talent management and recruiting.
• Implement national Wastewater initiatives to the marketplace.
• Participate in industry associations and serve as a company role-model in business and community organizations.
• Develop relationships with industry counterparts in other consulting organizations.
• Promote the Wastewater market through marketing planning, proposals, and interviews for Wastewater projects.
• Serve as the Client Manager for selected key clients.
• Assemble and manage project teams, ensuring the best technology and solutions are integrated into project delivery.
• Assist with contract review on key projects to help ensure risk management, proper staffing, quality reviews, and resolution of claims.
• Act as a QA/QC reviewer for Wastewater projects, including plans, specifications, models, presentations, and reports, and be engaged early in the project delivery process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field.
• Masters’s degree in engineering, planning, or related field.
• Professional Engineering License from Texas, Oklahoma, or Arkansas.
• Minimum of 10 years of industry experience.
• Experience in development and management of strategic marketing programs for planning and/or engineering services.
• Experience in development and management of a wide range of client relationships and specific program and/or project pursuits.
• Experience with staff mentoring and development to include recruiting, career path, and professional growth.
• Experience with industry associations and maintaining a visible profile in the market sector.
• Experience working cooperatively with Regional Market Sector Directors, Market Sector Directors, Business Class Directors, Regional Business Group Directors, Area Business Group Managers, Area Marketing Managers, and Area Managers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years managing municipal water and wastewater projects, engineering budgets, and project teams.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on project engineering experience.
• Good leadership and organizational skills.
• Experience with staff mentoring and development to include recruiting, career path, and professional growth.
• Experience with industry associations and maintaining a visible profile in the market sector.
