Your work will directly support public health, environmental sustainability, and infrastructure resilience.

The NC Water Business Group Project Delivery Leader will lead the development and growth of our Water Business Group team in the North Carolina area. This role is for a professional passionate about protecting public health, well-versed in project delivery, and knowledgeable about HDR’s Quality Management Programs and Project Delivery support across the drinking water, wastewater, recycled water, and stormwater markets.

You will collaborate with local and national leadership to establish the vision and strategy for expanding our research, planning, design, and engineering services. This position reports to the Area Water Business Group (WBG) Manager and partners with the Area Business Development Manager, Professional Services Lead, Market Sector Leads, Client Managers, Project Managers, Business Class Leads, and technical staff to support business operations, business development, and project delivery in the area. Occasional travel within the NC/SC area is required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee project management skills in conjunction with the Professional Services Leader.
  • Provide project delivery oversight related to scope, schedule, budget, and project staffing.
  • Participate in Project Reviews.
  • Coordinate with Market Sector Leaders to assign staff to projects.
  • Manage workshare between other business groups and Areas.
  • Assist in streamlining Area project management processes (remove barriers to execution).
  • Serve as a cross business group (BGX) champion.
  • Mentor staff across the NC Area to develop skills.
  • Coordinate strategy and engagement in professional organizations.
  • Fulfill Matrix of Authority (MOA) responsibilities.
  • Serve as a Project Manager for key projects with strategic clients.
  • Partner with the Business Group Manager and Market Sector Leads to develop and implement a recruiting strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience.
  • Professional registration, license, or certification may be required based on role.
  • Strong communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments.
  • Good leadership and organizational skills.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned culture.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (or 10 or more years of experience delivering consulting engineering services).
  • PMP certification.
  • Local candidates preferred.

Locations

United States-North Carolina-Charlotte (primary), with other opportunities in Winston-Salem, Raleigh, Wilmington, and Asheville.
