From delivering safe drinking water and treating wastewater responsibly to developing sustainable water supplies and protecting lives and property through flood control, your work will directly support public health, environmental sustainability, and infrastructure resilience.

We bring together experts across disciplines to solve complex challenges with bold thinking and technical excellence. This position will lead the development and growth of our Water Business Group team in the North Carolina area. The NC Water Business Group Project Delivery Leader will be a professional passionate about protecting public health, well-versed in project delivery, and knowledgeable about HDR’s Quality Management Programs and Project Delivery support across the drinking water, wastewater, recycled water, and stormwater markets.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with local and national leadership to establish the vision and strategy for expanding research, planning, design, and engineering services.
  • Responsible for project management skills development, in conjunction with the Professional Services Leader.
  • Provide project delivery oversight related to scope, schedule, budget, and project staffing.
  • Participate in Project Reviews.
  • Coordinate with Market Sector Leaders to help assign staff to projects.
  • Manage workshare between other business groups and Areas.
  • Assist in the development of ways to streamline Area project management processes (remove barriers to execution).
  • Serve as a cross business group (BGX) champion.
  • Serve as a mentor for the development of skills for staff across the NC Area.
  • Coordinate a strategy and engagement in professional organizations.
  • Handle Matrix of Authority (MOA) responsibilities.
  • Serve as a Project Manager for key projects with strategic clients.
  • Partner with the Business Group Manager and Market Sector Leads to develop a recruiting strategy and help implement.

This position requires occasional travel within the NC / SC area.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience.
  • Professional registration, license, or certification may be required based on role.
  • Strong communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments.
  • Good leadership and organizational skills.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree (or 10 or more years of experience delivering consulting engineering services).
  • PMP certification.
  • Local candidates are preferred.
