North America Test Engineering Manager
About the role
The North America Test Engineering Manager leads a team of Test Engineers, overseeing the strategy, development, and execution of product testing to ensure quality. This role involves managing staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation, and collaborating with other departments to define testing strategies, create test plans, and manage.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive test engineering strategy aligned with overall business objectives and product roadmaps.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Test Engineers, fostering their professional growth and ensuring high productivity.
- Oversee the entire product testing lifecycle, from requirements analysis and test plan creation to execution, defect tracking, and reporting.
- Collaborate with R&D, design, and manufacturing teams to integrate testing activities seamlessly into the product development process.
- Allocate and manage testing resources, including personnel, equipment, and budget, to optimize project timelines and costs.
- Establish and maintain high standards for product quality and reliability through effective testing methodologies.
- Identify and mitigate potential testing risks and challenges.
- Provide regular updates and reports on testing progress, issues, and overall product quality to senior management.
- Continuously find methods to improve efficiency metrics for the team (on-time delivery, cost, quality).
- Research and implement new testing technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance test coverage and effectiveness.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the test engineering function.
- Coordinate resources and tasks to meet overall group objectives and priorities.
- Monitor achievements and costs, and remove barriers to group’s success.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring clear communication and timely completion.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules and milestones.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience with product development life cycles and quality assurance processes resources to ensure on-time and within-budget project completion.
- Strong background in LabView Development Experience.
- In-depth Knowledge in Hardware and RF testing principles and applications.
- Extensive Programming experience in C, C#, and C++.
- Proven experience in managing and leading technical teams.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with various testing methodologies (e.g., agile, waterfall) and test automation frameworks.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
Skills
- LaboratoryVIEW Development Experience.
- Knowledge in Hardware and RF testing principles and applications.
- Programming experience in C, C#, C++, and other relevant languages.
- Management and leadership experience in technical teams.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills.

- Target Base Salary Range: $120,300 - $186,300
- Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity.
- Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
- The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
- Basic Requirements: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. 8+ years of experience in Test Engineering.
