About the role
Virginia Peninsula Community College seeks experienced and nationally certified professionals to teach noncredit Medical Coding and Billing classes.
Responsibilities
- Teach noncredit Medical Coding and Billing classes in the College’s Workforce Development Division.
- Teaching schedules may include day, evening, weekend, and distance education classes based on course schedules and instructor availability.
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
- May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
Requirements
- Must hold a valid nationally recognized certification as a Medical Biller and/or Coder.
- Significant work experience within field and occupation.
- Demonstrated ability to perform tasks within field and occupation.
- Knowledge of all applicable topics, skills, and trends within field and occupation.
- Industry certification(s) within field and occupation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Prior experience delivering or developing training.
- Knowledge of and ability to use a variety of software including word processing, presentation, spread sheet, database, and communication packages.
- Operation of a State Vehicle.
Qualifications
- Professional experience and appropriate certification are critical.
- Teaching experience is helpful, but not required.
Skills
- Ability to teach medical coding and billing.
- Experience working with various software tools.
