About the role

The City of Highland Village is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Police Officers. Our community is known for its unique community policing practices and values-based approach to law enforcement.

Responsibilities

• Gathering and disseminating crucial information to the public.
• Skillfully mediating disputes and maintaining harmony.
• Engaging in service-oriented initiatives to strengthen community relations.
• Proactively preventing and investigating crimes to uphold public safety.

Requirements

• At least 21 years of age or older.
• Fingerprinted and undergo state, local, and national criminal records check.
• Not on court-ordered community supervision or probation for any criminal offense.
• Not convicted of a Class B misdemeanor or above within the last ten (10) years.
• Not convicted of any prior felonies.
• Of good moral character.
• To pass a thorough, comprehensive background investigation and interview.
• To be a high school graduate or equivalent or have twelve (12) semester hours of credit from an accredited college or university.
• To pass state medical, mental, polygraph, and drug testing requirements.
• Not have been discharged from any military service under less than honorable conditions.
• To have an insurable driving record according to the city’s insurance policy.
• To not have left employment with any agency under less than honorable conditions.
• To hold a Texas Peace Officer’s license through TCOLE prior to participating in any law enforcement duties.

Qualifications

• Valid Texas driver's license.
• Level of TCOLE certifications.
• Able to work a rotating schedule, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• No history of discharge from military service under less than honorable conditions.
• No prohibition by state or federal law from possessing firearms or ammunition.
• No history of using or experimenting with illegal drugs or substances in the State of Texas.
• No history of arrest, charge, or conviction of a criminal offense, excluding minor traffic violations.
• No history of involvement in civil lawsuits.
• No history of receiving formal disciplinary actions at work.
• No history of termination, resignation, or disciplinary action where it was unfounded or substantiated.
• No history of rejection from another law enforcement agency.
• No active applications pending with another law enforcement agency.
• No knowledge of current or former Highland Village employees.
• No visible tattoos while in uniform.
• Belief in the goals of community policing.

Pay

Starting salary: $61,638.73. Pay increases to $74,922.26 once the job is completed.
