Job Description
The Non-Invasive Cardiologist is responsible for providing cardiology services in both inpatient and outpatient settings. This includes evaluating and managing cardiac disease processes, interpreting various diagnostic tests such as echocardiograms, stress testing, electrocardiograms, trans-esophageal echocardiography, and cardiac monitors. The role also involves collaborating with other medical specialties to adhere to established standards and practices.
Principle Duties And Responsibilities
- Examines, diagnoses, and provides treatments for cardiac disease processes
- Performs interpretation of echocardiograms, stress testing, electrocardiograms, trans-esophageal echocardiography, and cardiac monitors
- Performs patient examinations, obtains relevant medical history, and documents findings
- Uses risk calculators and stays updated with new studies, emerging technologies, and medications
- Administers prescribed medications and ensures patient compliance
- Orders and performs appropriate medical procedures in accordance with state law and practice guidelines
- Instructs patients and families about medications and treatments
- Edits and educates patients on health, illness prevention, and healing
- Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs
- Maintains and reviews patient records, charts, and other pertinent information
- Triage patient telephone calls and provides consultations when necessary
- Documents all patient care within the electronic medical record
- Completes necessary tasks in compliance with Bay Area Hospital and Prefontaine Cardiovascular Clinic policies and regulatory agencies
- Participates in Bay Area Hospital physicians' meetings and policy formation for Prefontaine Cardiovascular Clinic

- Remains current with CME activity and meets organizational CME requirements
- Maintains licenses and certifications, and complies with all Bay Area Hospital rules and continuing privileges
- Communicates effectively with colleagues, patients, physicians, and administration
- Selects avenues for professional growth and maintains quality of clinical practice
- Rotates for clinic and echo call duties
- Maintains regular, consistent, and punctual attendance
Education/Certifications/Licenses/Degress
- Mets criteria for Medical Staff or Allied Health Professional membership and privileges

Physical/Mental/Environmental Requirements
- Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently
- Possesses physical agility and adequate reaction time
- Needs adequate hearing and visual acuity, including adequate color vision
- Requires fine motor skills, adequate eye-hand coordination, and ability to grasp and handle objects
- Able to use proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating, transferring in and out of bed, chair, or wheelchair
- Able to use standard precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and bodily fluids
- Communicates effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone
- May require periodic use of personal computer
