About the role
We are seeking a Nondestructive Testing Engineer to serve as a technical resource within Amazon data centers. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and deploy innovative solutions to address operational challenges, working both independently and within multi-disciplinary teams. Projects will focus on improving electrical, mechanical, fire detection, and building automation systems. A fundamental understanding of these systems is required to identify areas for improvement and act on data from other teams.
This role involves overseeing medium-sized projects from conception to completion, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, and driving a culture of safety and security while maintaining a focus on availability. A lump sum stipend will be provided to eligible candidates who relocate for this position.
Responsibilities
- Act as a Safety Ambassador, driving a culture of safety and promoting a safe working environment for all.
- Comply with and enforce all security protocols while motivating others to do the same.
- Utilize internal CMMS to schedule and oversee day-to-day execution of Nondestructive Testing preventative maintenance across regional data centers.
- Serve as an escalation point for safety, security, and facilities-related issues, escalating to management as needed.
- Deploy and support standard practices for Nondestructive Testing.
- Communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Interact daily with engineers, technicians, project managers, and management.
- Develop detailed and creative solutions to complex problems with attention to timelines and costs.
- Oversee projects and provide root-cause solutions for facility issues.
- Perform and support nondestructive testing operations on critical systems, including power distribution, mechanical, plumbing, structural, and other equipment supporting critical operations.
Qualifications
- 1+ years of electrical or mechanical experience, or 1+ years of data center or mission-critical facilities experience (e.g., hospital, military facility, public safety facility).
- 1+ years of experience with Microsoft Office products and applications.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, overnights, and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of data center engineering experience.
- Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings.
- Associate's degree or technical degree in a related field.

Pay
Starting pay for this position in Manassas, VA is $32.88 - $57.50 USD hourly. Final starting pay will be based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
